This perpetual award recognizes those who have been role models through stewardship and servant leadership, promoting regional actions of sharing and cooperative goals. This is accomplished through the MCFCA and sections, along with other organizations. Tools used have included facilitating group planning, and often doing 'grunt' work needed towards a better future. These leaders are positive and inclusive, through team-based efforts to get the work done. Patient and persistent, they believe in helping and mentoring others, in 'paying it forward', and in serving with humility.

Ted Peterson and his wife Janice, pictured during a visit to Skywalker Ranch with Tom. At the time of the award Ted was a Division Chief with Novato FPD. He retired in 2017 from Novato, and accepted the Deputy Chief position with Southern Marin FPD.
