This fire department death in the line of duty (LODD) on April 29, 1914 was discovered on October 19, 2016, while doing online research on the history of the Ross Fire Department.
It was previously unknown to the current Marin County Fire Service, and will be added to several other missing names of Marin LODD's for inclusion on the California Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento, and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial back east. We are searching for more information, but meanwhile the articles below are pretty informative about what happened. It's possible that Aristid, who had taken up the name of Harry George or Henry George in America (newspaper accounts differ), may be in the photo above, but we do not have a list of names of those pictured at this time.
