There have been many fire service Associations that formed and were later dissolved over the years. For example, the Marin-Sonoma Fire Training Officers Association (MSFTOA) existed for 28 years, coordinating and providing training in the two counties. It was dissolved for several reasons, primarily because the complexity and needs of each County had grown to the point by 2010 where having a joint association was no longer effective.

MSFTOA sponsored a speaker on Crew Resource Management during emergencies. United Airlines Captain Al Haynes, pictured with a thank you plaque, reviewed the crash of United Flight 232 in Sioux City, Iowa on July 19, 1989.
