Pictured above: Corte Madera's Engine 3, a 1946 Ford American La France, 500 gpm pumper, stationed from 1966 into the mid-1970's at the Corte Madera "Sub-Station", as it was first known, in East Corte Madera on Paradise Drive. Tony lived in East Corte Madera, and often responded on this engine, as the "manning" was all-volunteer until the mid-1970's.
Anthony J. Moreno Passed away on July 20, 2010 at the age of 76.
Born in San Mateo, CA to the late, Lucas and Juana Moreno. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Moreno, as well as his three sons, Thomas Moreno (Leslie), Steven Moreno (Janette) and Anthony Moreno (Karol). Anthony is also survived by his grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, Nolan, Eleanor, Anthony, Isabella and Alyssa Nelson (Daniel).
He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War. For twelve years he was a very active volunteer firefighter in Corte Madera, serving as an officer for many years, including a term as elected President of Corte Madera Volunteer Fire Department Limited in the 1960's. He was a master builder and carpenter, running his own home construction business for many years.
He also coached the Twin Cities Little League for 15 years, including the North Bay Lumber team. A talented water skier and boater, the family enjoyed vacations at their second home at Lake Berryessa. He enjoyed golf and was a long time member of St. Eugene's Cathedral, but more than anything else he loved time spent with his family - all of which will miss him dearly.
Family and friends attended a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at St. Eugene's Cathedral, 300 Farmers Lane, Santa Rosa. A Vigil Service was held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave, Santa Rosa. Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery - Santa Rosa.
